Gerry grew up in a musical family in Dublin, Ireland.

He started learning guitar at 14 and his only formal training was from Eric Bell (the original guitarist from Thin Lizzy) who exposed him to the styles of Freddie King and other great blues guitar players. Here began Gerry’s obsession with the guitar and its relatives.

His band Raw Deal achieved success in Ireland and the UK which drove him on to near burnout as sometimes happens to one who is young and near stardom. He emmigrated to quieter climes in Australia and has played in various bands, worked in music stores, and runs a very successful guitar tuition business.

He formed The Shinkickers in 1995. Gerry’s style and sound relays emotion directly from his heart through his fingers to the instrument. From goose- bump producing and finger- burning solos, the audience is enraptured by his skill
